Dreams....

Moving is always an adventure! My husband and I have lived in three homes...our first was a furnished apartment at Asbury Theological Seminary.  Everything in that apartment was brown or orange...but it was ours!  Our second apartment had two bedrooms and brown shag carpet.  We were thrilled because we had enough furniture to fill it (thanks to our loving friends and family!) We now live in a house with a lot of character.  It is over 100 years old and has plenty of room for our dog Zoe and the two of us! 

This week's challenge for Cricut Cardz Challenge is threefold...

• Use a house
• Use a flourish
• Use lace

My card was made using several different cartridges.  The house is from Don Juan, the sun is from Wild Card, and the flourish and the cloud is from Home Accents. My border punch is from Martha Steward and is my lace contribution...sorry, no lace in my collection of ribbons! The yellow plaid rick rack ribbon comes from a church rummage sale a couple of years ago! :)

I'm happy with how it turned out...maybe one of my friends who is moving into a new house may be receiving it soon! :) 

Knitting Keeps Us From Unraveling

This card was made especially for my sister in Indiana.  She has had a couple of hard weeks and is a big time knitter, so I thought this might cheer her up.  She is in the process of moving though, so I thought I'd post it here for her to see. Then, once she moves, I'll send it to her new house.  It is always great to get some "fun mail" and not just bills and such! 

This stamp set is from Stampin' Up (Hand Knit) and the coloring is done with my Stampin' Up markers.

Now off to make a card for yet another sister who has been working her tush off at work and might be pleasantly surprised to receive some "fun mail!"

Fragrant Flowers, Green Grass and Sparkling Sunshine...

This week was Spring Break in Central Illinois...and the weather was really beautiful the beginning of the week! My youngest sister came to visit and we got to spend time outside...without coats! However, some weird weather pattern came through yesterday and made our temperatures plummet from the 70's to 40's in just a couple of hours. 

After mourning the beautiful weather, I worked on a spring inspired card for Cricut Cardz Challenge #67.  The challenge was to make a pink, green and white spring card.  For this challenge, I used paper from my stash and Accent Essentials, Wild Card and Gypsy Wanderings cartridges.  All of my gems come from the Michael's dollar bins.  My "celebrate sunshine" stamp is from American Crafts.  Some of my flowers are stamped with my polka dot stamp by Stampabilities.

I enjoyed taking a little bit of time to make a card for Cricut Cardz Challenge #66.  This challenge was to use the colors blue, yellow and white to make a thank you card which also included a Cricut cut border.  This color combo is one of my favorites...the colors from my wedding (just about ten years ago!)  You can never have too many thank you cards, right?

I used the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge to cut the border and the Don Juan cartridge to cut my sentiment.  Pop dots are used to make the "thanks" and one flower from the border "pop" out.  

A baby gift that keeps on giving....

My mom came up with a wonderful baby gift idea many years ago.  What makes this gift special is that it celebrates the baby's entire childhood...not just those cute little infant years.  When my aunt first adopted my cousin, mom suggested I make a Birthday Book that my aunt could use to include pictures of my cousin's birthdays from her "Gotcha Day" until her 18th birthday.  When I was visiting them last summer, I was able to see my cousin's book filled with pictures from each year.  I have since made another Birthday Book for her sister and last week, mom asked me to make one that she could give as a gift for a baby shower.

I am really pleased with how this turned out...below are pictures of some of the pages.   The first page has the baby's name on it and a place for her very first picture on the day she is born.  (I've left this off the post just in case this soon to be momma runs across my blog!)The rest of the pages, 6 months-18 years, have room for a 4x6 photo of the child on their birthday.  The 6x6 scrapbook came from Hobby Lobby (the Paper Studio) and is chocolate brown with pink polka dots.

I used the Don Juan Cricut Cartridge to cut all of my letters and numbers.

Starting to Design

After posting my last crocheted food project, which I made as a gift for my niece, I was asked to make a set of food to sell to a friend.  Because I was going to be selling this food, I needed to use my own patterns.  I had a ball designing the entire set!
